Coffee & Tea

  • Big Shoulders Coffee

The coffee is delicious. The atmosphere is simple, airy and bright. Bonus: it's only 2 blocks from my apartment. Once in awhile I treat myself to the marshmallow latte which comes with a roasted marshmallow on top.

  • Dark Matter Coffee

It's all about the Unicorn Blood espresso roast. A friend turned me onto this place a couple years ago and I have become so addicted to Unicorn Blood that I take it with me when I travel. I'm most likely 50% Unicorn Blood at this point.

  • Sprout Home

Plant shopping is my happy place. This place always has interesting ones and everyone is so sweet and helpful.

  • Architectural Artifacts

80,000 square foot warehouse of unlimited treasure hunting. Equal parts inspiring and overwhelming.

  • Coalfire Pizza

Neapolitan style pizza that is chewy and crunchy and perfect. I love that they don't change the menu around. Some things are classically perfect and shouldn't change. I'm thankful (and not) that it is so close to home.

  • Taco Joint

I just tried this place the other day and was blown away by how good it was. Reasonably priced and a nice rotating mix. Dried plantain chips and one of the better Micheladas I've had in the city.

  • Matchbox

Grab a table outside in the sun enjoy a great classic cocktail or beer from their long list. Go for a Manhattan. They marinate their own cherries in bourbon.

  • Lush Wine & Spirits

Purchase a bottle to go or grab something to enjoy there while nibbling on bar snacks. Comfortable and relaxed environment. There are no screens. There are no games on.

  • Garfield Park Conservatory

The cactus room in the winter is a great place to feel warm when you're missing summer.

  • Chicago Parks

Love to picnic at lots of Chicago parks. Mostly, Eckhart & Union Park.
